Dental Implants
Gaps left by missing teeth compromise the beauty and function of your smile while causing a range of other oral health issues.
Drs. Alex Wong and Vanessa Lee provide dental implants to give compromises unbeatable comfort, stability, and health.
So, why should you choose our dental practice in Coquitlam, BC, to restore your smile?

What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are the most trusted and advanced tooth replacement solution to date. Implants consist of three parts: the implant post, the abutment, and the restoration (a crown, bridge, or denture).
The implant posts are inserted into the jawbone, where they act as tooth roots and eventually fuse to the surrounding tissue through a process called osseointegration. The abutment and restoration are attached at a later time, and patients leave our Coquitlam office with a smile that is both functional and healthy.

Long-Lasting Results
When properly cared for, dental implants can last for 40 years or longer While you may need to eventually replace the adjoining crown, bridge, or denture, the implants themselves can last a lifetime.Form and Function
Our Coquitlam dentists provide stunning restorations that look entirely natural. Thanks to implants, these restorations can function just like natural teeth.Strength and Stability
Getting dental implants allows patients to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. There is no risk of them shifting or falling out of place like with traditional dentures.Protection against Jaw Atrophy
A missing tooth eventually causes the surrounding jawbone to weaken. Dental implants are the only solution that can stop bone atrophy from occurring after a tooth is lost.Natural Appearance and Feel
Implant-supported restorations such as a crown, denture, or bridge are designed to look just like natural teeth. They will be indistinguishable from the rest of your smile.Take a look at what happens during implant treatment...
Implants Have a Track Record of Success
"Lovely in Every Way"
I had a lot of anxiety around going to the dentist, and after carefully researching for a new local office to attend, I stumbled upon Vitacare and now I can't stop recommending them to friends and family! Never in my life did I think a time would come when I would feel neutral - never mind, happy - about going to the dentist, but I do! Dr. Lee has been lovely in every way and all of the support staff have been so great! 10/10, would recommend.
View On GoogleMy experience here at Vitacare was one of the best I've had in quite some time. I had been looking for a dental office where I can be followed by one dentist through the years, and it appears I've found it. Dr. Vanessa Lee was very patient and knowledgeable, and most importantly she did a great job putting me at ease. On top of that everything at the office appears to be high tech and top notch. I'll be bringing my family here.

Are You Worried about Undergoing Surgery?
Many patients are worried about the idea of undergoing oral surgery. But don't worry. Drs. Wong and Lee have received extensive training in the placement of dental implants to ensure your surgery will be safe and comfortable.
During the procedure at our Coquitlam office, you will receive a local anesthetic, which will keep the tooth area completely numb during your appointment. If there is anything we can do to make your visit more pleasant and comfortable, please let our office know.
The procedure is fairly straightforward, and over 5 million dental implants are placed by dentists in the U.S. every year, making this an increasingly popular dentistry treatment due to the unbeatable results it provides.

What steps are necessary to ensure good results?

Some patients may first undergo procedures to prepare the jaw and minimize the risk of complications. Bone grafting and sinus lift procedures will add several months to your treatment timeline, but might be a necessary first step toward experiencing all the benefits dental implants offer.Discuss Medications with Your Doctor
Certain medications can increase your risk of bleeding and bruising, while others can interact with drugs you might be prescribed after the surgery. Make sure to discuss all medications, vitamins, and supplements you take with the team at our Coquitlam practice.Practice Healthy Lifestyle Habits
It's important to establish habits that can protect your implants in the future. Practicing good oral hygiene habits and staying on top of routine dental visits are key to ensuring your implants and restorations are in the best shape possible for years to come.A Dental Practice on Your Side Contact Us to Book Your Appointment

What to Expect during Recovery
Like any dental surgery, patients can expect to experience some discomfort and swelling after their visit. Most patients are able to alleviate these side effects with over-the-counter anti-inflammatories. You will receive detailed post-operative instructions which may include:
Eating Soft Foods
We recommend a soft foods diet such as smoothies, soups, yogurt, scrambled eggs, and similar textures after surgery. This allows the treatment area to heal adequately. Patients should avoid very hot food or drinks and eat meals that can easily be chewed.
Carefully Cleaning the Treatment Site
Food particles can easily become trapped in the gums. Patients should rinse their mouth out thoroughly after every meal or snack. Gently brush around your incisions with a soft-bristled toothbrush at least twice a day.
Avoiding Strenuous Activities
Most patients can return to work within one to three days after their procedure, but we encourage you to take as much time off as needed. Patients will need to avoid strenuous exercise or similar activities as this can increase bleeding and surgery at the implant site.
